From Royal Treasure to Buddhist Sacred Gem
China has a long history of using turquoise. As early as 9,000 years ago in the Neolithic Age, turquoise ornaments emerged. Its craftsmanship peaked during the Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties. Turquoise was often inlaid on ritual vessels and weapons, symbolizing royal power and social status. The name "turquoise" was officially adopted in the Qing Dynasty. Later revered in Tibetan Buddhism, it has been passed down to this day as both decorative jewelry and a sacred stone.
